Multiple incidents of violence have once again shaken Odisha, raising concerns about the state’s law and order situation. In one tragic event on Monday afternoon, a man was fatally stabbed in a road rage incident in the Belpahar area of Jharsuguda district. The Superintendent of Police, G.R. Raghavendra, reported that a dispute near Gandhi Nagar escalated into a lethal assault, leading to the death of a motorcyclist.
The main suspects, Chand Banchhor and Babu Banchhor, were visiting a relative’s house before the incident. While returning in a hired vehicle, their collision with two motorcyclists, Akash Sahoo and Rahul Mahato, sparked a heated argument that turned violent. Chand and Babu allegedly attacked the duo with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage, resulting in critical injuries and one fatality.
In a separate distressing incident, a 38-year-old man named Ajit Kumar Sahoo from Odagaon was allegedly murdered by a stone mafia group during the early hours of Monday. The victim and his friend intercepted trucks loaded with stone pieces, leading to a dispute that escalated into a violent confrontation. Ajit was brutally attacked with a sword, resulting in severe injuries and his tragic death.
Police have taken action by detaining multiple suspects in these cases, but the prime accused in the first incident remain at large. The community has reacted strongly to these incidents, demanding justice and stricter measures against such violence and illegal activities.
