Violence against civilians in Pakistan’s Balochistan province is on the rise, as per a human rights organization. The Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department reported the alleged extrajudicial killing of three Baloch civilians by a Pakistan-backed death squad. The mutilated body of Mulla Razak was discovered in the Semswari Koar region just a day after his disappearance, showing signs of severe torture.
Citing local sources, the rights body revealed that Razak was taken by a death squad on January 14 without any legal authorization. The body bore marks of brutal treatment, indicating a custodial killing. This incident is part of a disturbing trend of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial executions in Balochistan, where civilians are being targeted with impunity.
The organization also denounced the enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killing of Zohaib Ahmed, a graduate student and shopkeeper. Zohaib’s mutilated body was found in the Bonistan area of Panjgur, displaying bullet wounds and signs of torture. According to reports, Zohaib was attacked by masked armed men at the Municipal Committee Office in Panjgur, leading to his abduction after a violent confrontation.
Another tragic incident involved the detention and extrajudicial killing of Zareef Baloch, who was taken from his medical store and killed by a death squad on the same day. Balochistan continues to witness severe human rights violations, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and unlawful detentions of Baloch individuals by Pakistani authorities.
