Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj commended producer Sajid Nadiadwala for his trust in both him and their project. Despite Bhardwaj’s efforts to economize during filming, Nadiadwala spared no expense, emphasizing that the project’s vision deserved full investment. Bhardwaj acknowledged that the film’s budget surpassed his directorial capabilities, crediting Nadiadwala’s faith for making it feasible.
Bhardwaj shared the challenges faced in managing a budget that exceeded his expectations, likening the endeavor to making a five-rupee film on a one-rupee budget. He emphasized the transformative nature of filmmaking, noting that each project pushes individuals to evolve and improve. During the trailer launch of “O Romeo,” Bhardwaj defended the unrestricted use of slang and swear words in films, advocating for their authentic portrayal without censorship.
Addressing societal attitudes towards explicit language in cinema, Bhardwaj criticized the double standards that exist, highlighting the role of films as reflections of society. He expressed his belief that if violence and profanity are prevalent in society, they should be truthfully depicted in cinema. Bhardwaj elaborated on “O Romeo,” describing it as a love story set against a backdrop of violence, featuring Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri. The film is slated for release on February 13.
