Vishesh Sharma, a 19-year-old golfer from Hyderabad, shot a remarkable seven-under 65 to take a one-shot lead in the inaugural INR 1 crore Boulders Classic at the Boulder Hills Golf & Country Club. Sharma’s round, which included an eagle on the 14th hole, six birdies, and a single bogey, set a new course record.
Shubhankar Sharma, a two-time PGTI Tour winner, carded a six-under 66 to share the second spot with Vinay Kumar Yadav from Delhi. This marked Shubhankar’s return to the tour since December 2021. Vishesh Sharma, who turned pro last year and finished 21st on the DP World PGTI Order of Merit in 2025, showcased his familiarity with the venue through an impressive performance.
Vishesh Sharma expressed, “I kept myself in play early on and focused on getting into good positions. The eagle on the 14th really gave me momentum.” He continued his strong play by converting multiple opportunities within 10 to 15 feet, emphasizing his ability to capitalize on created chances.
Shubhankar Sharma, on the other hand, highlighted the challenging conditions of the course, foreseeing increased difficulty with wind and pin positions as the tournament progresses. Despite facing two bogeys, Shubhankar’s round featured an eagle and six birdies, contributing to his strong performance.
Vinay Kumar Yadav, aged 30, matched Shubhankar Sharma’s score with a flawless six-under 66, positioning himself tied for second place. Vinay’s recent victory at the DP World PGTI NexGen event in Gurugram adds to his competitive edge in the tournament.
Yuvraj Sandhu, another top contender, struggled with a 73 on the first day, placing him tied for 55th in the standings.
