Vishvajit Sahay, a senior officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service, has been appointed as the Secretary of Defence Finance in the Ministry of Defence. With a background in Defence Finance and Public Administration spanning over three decades, Sahay previously served as the Controller General of Defence Accounts.
Sahay, an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and a law graduate, has held various significant positions, including Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Department of Science and Technology, and Joint Secretary in the Department of Heavy Industries. He has also served in roles within the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Bharat Khera, a senior Indian Administrative Service officer, has taken charge as the Secretary of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). With over thirty years of administrative experience in both Central and State Governments, Khera previously served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Khera’s previous assignments include a tenure as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, where he oversaw matters related to the Indian Air Force and coordinated national ceremonial events. He later served in the Cabinet Secretariat, contributing to strategic policy-making during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The MSME sector, now under Khera’s leadership, is a significant contributor to India’s GDP, playing a crucial role in employment generation, manufacturing, and exports.
