The voter turnout in Assam’s Assembly elections stood at 38.92% by 11 a.m., as per the Election Commission of India data. In Kerala, the turnout was 33.28%, and in Puducherry, it was 37.06%. Polling for these elections began at 7 a.m.
The ongoing polling covers 126 Assembly seats in Assam, 140 in Kerala, and 30 in Puducherry. Results are scheduled to be announced on May 4. In Kerala, over 2.71 crore voters are participating in the electoral process.
In Assam, the primary contest is between the BJP and Congress. The BJP is eyeing a third consecutive term, while Congress aims to regain power lost in 2016. Voting in Assam started at 7 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m.
Polling in Puducherry proceeded smoothly, with voters showing up steadily to elect representatives to the 30-member Assembly. The election is crucial as the Union Territory is presently governed by a coalition led by the AINRC, with support from the BJP.
