Voting for the 2026 municipal elections in Jharkhand is currently ongoing, with a significant voter turnout since early morning. Union Minister of State Sanjay Seth, along with his family, has also cast their votes for the local elections. Seth noted the high enthusiasm among voters, anticipating a new voter turnout record this year.
Citizens emphasized the importance of participating in the elections, expressing their desire for effective municipal governance and a clean city. Jitender Chaudhary, the first voter in his ward, encouraged fellow citizens to exercise their voting rights responsibly. He stressed the significance of selecting candidates committed to community welfare and essential services like education, infrastructure, and safety.
Over 43.43 lakh voters, including more than 21 lakh women, are eligible to vote in the municipal polls across nine municipal corporations, 20 nagar parishads, and 19 nagar panchayats in Jharkhand. Polling, which began at 7 a.m., will continue until 5 p.m. under tight security measures, with over 4,300 polling booths set up, including sensitive areas, to ensure a smooth voting process.
