Aalok Kumar, also known as Yashpal Singh, a wanted criminal, has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates to India by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The extradition, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), took place on Friday. Aalok Kumar was sought in connection with a case filed by Haryana Police for various offenses, including cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy, and using forged documents to obtain passports fraudulently.
The CBI stated that Aalok Kumar was a key figure in an organized scheme that acquired Indian passports through forged documents and false information. The accused allegedly assisted several individuals with criminal backgrounds in obtaining passports using fake identities and addresses. Moreover, officials mentioned that the accused played a significant role in coordinating illegal activities and managing the immigration of such individuals.
Following a Red Notice issued against Aalok Kumar by Haryana Police through INTERPOL channels, he was located and arrested by authorities in the UAE. Subsequently, an extradition request was made to the UAE authorities, who granted the extradition to India after due legal procedures. Aalok Kumar arrived in Mumbai on May 1 and was taken into custody by Haryana Police. The CBI highlighted its role as the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, collaborating with various law enforcement agencies through BHARATPOL for assistance via INTERPOL Channels. Over the past few years, more than 150 wanted criminals have been successfully repatriated to India through the coordinated efforts of the MEA, MHA, and other law enforcement authorities.
