A violent clash in Bihar’s Saran district led to the death of a ward councillor and left three others critically injured. The incident occurred during a dispute at a Tilakotsav ceremony in the Manjhi area, turning a festive atmosphere into tragedy. The brawl escalated into a knife attack, resulting in four individuals sustaining severe injuries.
The deceased, identified as Raja Babu Thakur, was the Ward Councillor of Ward No. 9 from Godha village. Following the altercation with neighbors, the situation quickly deteriorated, leading to the fatal confrontation. The injured were rushed to the Manjhi Community Health Centre before being transferred to Chhapra Sadar Hospital due to the seriousness of their conditions.
Raja Babu Thakur succumbed to his injuries while being shifted for treatment, while his cousins, Mukesh Thakur, Ritesh Thakur, and another individual, continue to receive medical care. The violent incident, occurring amidst a celebratory setting, has sparked outrage in the community, with the police suspecting local political motives behind the attack.
Authorities have initiated legal action against 12 suspects on charges of murder and attempted murder, with ongoing investigations focusing on the underlying reasons for the tragic event. Raids are in progress to apprehend the perpetrators, and heightened police presence aims to maintain order in the area amid escalating tensions. The district police have recovered the councillor’s body for post-mortem examination, as the victim’s family grapples with the profound loss.
