Mai Hontama started the day with a strong win over Alevtina Ibragimova, securing a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Mananchaya Sanwangkaew, the previous season’s runner-up, dominated her match against Viktoria Morvayova, winning 6-2, 6-1 to move to the Round of 16. Notably, the Thai player Mananchaya recently faced Emma Raducanu at the Australian Open. Indian veteran Ankita Raina entered the Main Draw after Lulu Sun’s withdrawal but faced defeat against Misaki Matsuda in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.
Mei Yamaguchi, 26, triumphed over Polina Iatcenko after a challenging 2-hour and 14-minute battle. Despite losing the first set, Yamaguchi rallied to win 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. Vaidehee Chaudhari, India’s second-ranked women’s singles player, faced Leolia Jeanjean, the third seed. Jeanjean, known for defeating Karolina Pliskova at the French Open, won decisively 6-2, 6-0 in just over an hour.
In the final match of the day, Miho Kuramochi of Japan defeated Nicole Fossa Huergo of Argentina in straight sets, with a score of 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 31 minutes.
