The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its new panel chiefs for the state, with two sitting Lok Sabha members taking key roles. Saumitra Khan, a two-time Lok Sabha member from Bishunupur constituency, will lead the party’s Yuva Morcha. Jyotirmay Singh Mahato, another two-time Lok Sabha member from Purulia constituency, has been appointed as the head of the party’s Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha.
Actress-turned-politician Locket Chatterjee, a former Lok Sabha member from Hooghly constituency, will oversee the Mahila Morcha in West Bengal. Bapi Goswami is set to lead the party’s Kisan Morcha, while Ajit Das will take charge of the Other Backward Class (OBC) Morcha. Khudiram Tudu has been named the head of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) Morcha, and Amitava Roy will head the Minority Morcha.
The restructuring of leadership and mass organizations in the state has been finalized with these appointments. Last year, Samik Bhattacharya was chosen as the new state president, succeeding Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar. The BJP also unveiled a new 35-member state committee, with notable figures like Nishith Pramanik, Agnimitra Paul, Manoj Tigga, and Dipak Burman among the vice-presidents.
