Aam Janata Unnayan Party legislator Humayun Kabir praised the recent decision made in the first meeting of West Bengal’s new cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, to provide land to the BSF for erecting barbed fencing along the unfenced border with Bangladesh within 45 days. Kabir emphasized the importance of this move for state and national security, expressing confidence in the government’s commitment to border protection.
Kabir highlighted the significance of the new Chief Minister’s pledge to ensure effective governance for the people of the state, urging faith in the fulfillment of these promises. The decision to allocate land to the Border Security Force within 45 days, as announced in the BJP’s pre-election manifesto and by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, was a key agenda item in the cabinet meeting.
Before the recent West Bengal elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had specifically stated that the land allocation decision would be made in the inaugural meeting of the new cabinet, which was successfully executed on Monday. Kabir, a former Trinamool Congress legislator, was expelled from the party prior to the elections for proposing the construction of a Babri Mosque in Murshidabad district, leading to the formation of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party.
Kabir, who contested and won from two Assembly constituencies in Murshidabad district, is the second MLA, following Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, to achieve this feat. Adhikari, elected from Nandigram and Bhabanipur constituencies, defeated former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the latter by a substantial margin.
