After an arrest warrant, West Bengal’s CID has issued a lookout notice against Sumit Roy, who is the absconding executive assistant of Abhishek Banerjee. The warrant was sought by the West Midnapore district police in relation to an illegal land-grabbing case. Following this, Sumit sought anticipatory bail from the Calcutta High Court, and the case is expected to be heard soon.
CID’s lookout notice implies that Sumit will be detained if he attempts to flee through any airport or port in the country. Despite ongoing efforts to locate him, Sumit remains elusive. The CID has engaged with the Immigration Department regarding the case and successfully obtained approval for the lookout notice.
In recent events, police visited Abhishek Banerjee’s residence looking for Sumit, whose mobile phone’s last location was traced there. However, he was not found at the premises. Additionally, a search at Sumit’s in-laws’ residence also yielded no results. The police are actively pursuing Sumit in connection with the illegal land-grabbing case.
