Amid concerns about the complexity of the 12-page Annapurna Yojana application form, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that government staff will visit beneficiaries’ homes to help with form completion. The scheme aims to provide a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 to women in the state.
Speaking at a cervical cancer vaccination camp inauguration in Bidhannagar, the Chief Minister emphasized that eligible women will receive the benefits without facing any challenges in filling out the forms. He assured that efforts will be made to prevent non-Indian or male individuals from accessing the funds.
The first phase of disbursement under the Annapurna Yojana scheme is scheduled for June 3, with funds directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts. The state government plans to assist households in completing the forms to ensure genuine recipients receive the financial support.
Replacing the earlier Lakshmir Bhandar scheme, the Annapurna Yojana offers an increased monthly payment of Rs 3,000. Initially, existing Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries were to be automatically enrolled; however, ineligible recipients, including males, were identified, leading to the introduction of a detailed 12-page enrollment form.
