West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari refuted claims made by three Trinamool Congress MPs regarding the removal of security personnel for former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Adhikari stated that Mamata Banerjee would not be provided personal security officers of her choice. The Kolkata Police had replaced two PSOs who had been with Mamata Banerjee since 2011, but the replacements were not accepted by her or her associates.
Six Trinamool legislators, supporting Mamata Banerjee, met the Chief Minister to request the reinstatement of the original PSOs. Adhikari reiterated that Mamata Banerjee cannot have PSOs of her preference. He clarified that the security level for Mamata Banerjee remains unchanged, with ‘Z+’ security cover and the same number of security personnel as before. Adhikari emphasized that it is not possible to choose personal security personnel in government systems.
