West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated that the new BJP government, under his leadership, will ensure a balanced approach to land procurement for industry. He highlighted the importance of industrial development for the state’s economic progress but emphasized that land acquisition should not be coercive.
Adhikari mentioned that while West Bengal aims to be industry-friendly to boost tax revenue and create jobs, land procurement will be conducted without force. He assured that the interests of both industrial growth and farmers will be safeguarded through a fair approach.
The Chief Minister also revealed plans to scrutinize investment proposals and the backgrounds of industrialists showing interest in West Bengal. He stressed the need to attract investments for state development and employment opportunities, emphasizing the importance of a thorough evaluation process.
Adhikari further disclosed that a team, led by the State Industries and Commerce Secretary Vandana Yadav, has been formed to assess investment proposals. The focus is on fostering employment through various scales of industries to address unemployment issues and enhance revenue generation for the state.
In addition, the Chief Minister announced an investigation into the allocation of Rs 635 crore by the previous government for organizing the Bengal Global Business Summit. He expressed concerns over the substantial payment made to an advertising-cum-event management company and assured a thorough probe into the expenditure.
