The West Bengal health department has initiated a project to issue official ID cards with specific color codes for various categories of healthcare personnel working in state-run medical facilities. The project, which began on Monday, is set to be finalized by May 28. A recent notification from the Director of Health Services outlined different color codes for different healthcare roles.
Doctors will be identified by purple ID cards, while technicians will carry orange ones. Administrative staff will have black cards, and nursing staff will be recognized by brown cards. Support staff will be assigned bottle green cards, security personnel deep maroon, miscellaneous staff mustard yellow, and outsourced personnel blue.
The introduction of color-coded ID cards for healthcare staff across state-run medical units is a directive from the state health department’s higher authorities. This measure aims to enhance professionalism, discipline, and easy identification among all personnel. Each building within state medical entities will have a designated person overseeing the implementation of this project.
To ensure the smooth execution of the project, medical entity authorities are instructed to provide high-speed broadband connections and office desks. Given the short implementation timeframe of four days, all employees are urged to promptly register their details at the designated desk.
