West Bengal Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim criticized the BJP, stating that electoral politics has shifted towards fake narratives and social media misinformation. He defended his Trinamool Congress government’s development record and governance model, highlighting the change in political competition over the years.
Hakim emphasized the shift in political battles, noting that the current scenario involves agencies and misleading content on social media when facing the BJP. He expressed confidence that the BJP would not come to power in West Bengal, citing incidents of violence linked to food choices in BJP-ruled states.
The Minister challenged BJP leaders on food politics, questioning their acceptance of non-vegetarian practices. He accused the BJP of attempting to polarize voters through religious narratives and defended the Trinamool’s disciplinary actions against party members involved in controversies.
Hakim rejected the BJP’s accusations of appeasement, asserting that their agenda focuses on the upliftment of backward communities and social development. He stressed the importance of secularism and equal rights, stating that these rights are inherent and should not be manipulated for political gains.
On governance in West Bengal, Hakim highlighted the Trinamool government’s development initiatives, including welfare schemes and infrastructure growth. He refuted claims of electoral malpractice, stating that the party relies on public support rather than rigging or coercion.
