West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul visited the family of a 12-year-old girl who was raped and murdered in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas district. Describing the incident as “extremely unfortunate,” Paul assured the family of justice being served. She emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring justice in this case.
The BJP West Bengal President, Mahila Morcha, Phalguni Patra, expressed sorrow over the incident, noting the victim’s mother’s distress. Patra assured that those responsible for the crime would face severe punishment. The government has also enacted laws to address such atrocities and prevent their recurrence.
The prime accused in the case, Ananda Sarkar, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the West Bengal Police on July 6. Sarkar, along with two other accused, Pravas Mondal and Dibakar Sardar, is set to appear before a district court in South 24 Parganas for further legal proceedings. The police have been diligent in their investigation, ensuring all suspects are brought to justice.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari condemned the crime as “heinous” and pledged to pursue the strictest punishment for the perpetrators. Adhikari assured the victim’s family of the government’s unwavering support in seeking justice. The authorities are actively investigating the incident, including the mob violence that led to the death of a man protesting against the rape-murder.
