The West Bengal Police apprehended the mastermind of a cyber fraud scheme that targeted individuals nationwide with digital arrest threats. Aman Singh, the cyber fraudster, was captured by the state’s cybercrime unit during a search operation in Goa. Singh, in collaboration with accomplices, established illicit call centers in various regions, including Kolkata and Salt Lake, employing SIM boxes to construct unauthorized telecom networks.
A complaint lodged at the Electronics Complex police station in Bidhannagar initiated an investigation into the cyber fraud ring. Following extensive inquiries and examination of previously detained individuals and their mobile records, law enforcement pinpointed Aman Singh as the primary suspect behind the digital arrest intimidation. Singh faces charges not only in the cybercrime incident but also in a separate sexual harassment case in Kolkata and a comparable offense reported to the Mumbai Police.
Singh, evading authorities in Kolkata and Mumbai, orchestrated numerous cyber fraud incidents across different states. Detectives traced his whereabouts to a beach tent in Goa, leading to a successful police raid resulting in his arrest. Aman Singh is currently in transit remand en route to Kolkata for further legal proceedings. Police investigations have expanded to uncover other individuals involved in the cybercrime network within the state and nationwide.
