The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police has seized 10 firearms and 150 bullets in various parts of the state, leading to the arrest of five individuals. Investigations are ongoing to determine how the accused obtained these illegal weapons, with authorities vowing to continue such operations.

In Asansol, West Burdwan district, two individuals, identified as Firoz Hasan alias Mohammad Firoz (58) and Mohammad Sonu (25), were apprehended with multiple firearms and bullets. The court has remanded both suspects to seven days’ police custody under the Arms Act at Asansol South Police Station.

Police disclosed that a total of four firearms and 30 rounds of cartridges were recovered from the arrested individuals. This significant seizure has caused a stir in the area, prompting authorities to delve deeper into the source of these weapons and potential links to a larger arms trafficking network.

Meanwhile, in Purulia district, Jhalda Police Station officers arrested three alleged miscreants from Jharkhand with a firearm and four rounds of bullets. The suspects, identified as Rahul Tanti, Amit Toppo, and Nayan Bauri, confessed during interrogation to planning a robbery. The court has remanded them to three days’ police custody, as investigations into their potential involvement in prior crimes are underway.
