West Indies captain Hayley Matthews and her team have shown impressive progress in the latest Women’s ODI Rankings following their 3-0 series victory over Ireland in the ICC Women’s Championship. Matthews, leading with exceptional performances in both batting and bowling, was named the Player of the Series after scoring 265 runs and taking seven wickets across the three ODIs, solidifying her top 10 positions in all three ODI rankings categories.
The recent rankings update also reflected the achievements of Stafanie Taylor, Aaliyah Alleyne, Afy Fletcher, and Deandra Dottin for their contributions during the series. Taylor advanced to 22nd place in the ODI batting rankings with a remarkable century in the final ODI against Ireland, while Alleyne moved up to 73rd position after her innings of 33 in the same match.
In the ODI bowling rankings, Fletcher climbed to equal 21st place with eight wickets, the highest tally in the series, while Dottin rose to 75th position after her notable performances. The clean sweep has elevated the West Indies team to fourth place in the ICC Women’s Championship standings with eight points.
Despite Ireland’s 3-0 series loss, there were positive outcomes in the rankings update for them as well. Captain Gaby Lewis advanced to 18th place in the ODI batting rankings due to her consistent displays during the series. Additionally, Orla Prendergast moved up to 31st place in the ODI bowling rankings.
Ireland’s bowling unit also received recognition with Jane Maguire climbing to 47th place among ODI bowlers, and Aimee Maguire reaching equal 71st position.
