The White House has labeled the US campaign against Iran a success, attributing it to military achievements that paved the way for diplomatic opportunities following President Donald Trump’s directive to halt strikes. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt praised the operation, known as “Operation Epic Fury,” for surpassing its goals ahead of schedule. President Trump had initially anticipated a 4-6 week duration for the operation, but it concluded in 38 days due to the exceptional performance of the military.

Leavitt emphasized that the administration views the suspension of military action not as a retreat but as a strategic outcome of battlefield triumphs. She highlighted that the military accomplishments have bolstered the US negotiating position, leading to potential diplomatic resolutions and long-term peace talks. Additionally, she connected the campaign’s success to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global maritime route central to the conflict.

The White House linked the decision to pause strikes to ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, crucial for the transportation of a substantial portion of the world’s oil supplies. Leavitt mentioned that more information about the operation would be provided by senior defense officials, with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman Caine expected to share details the following morning. Trump had previously announced a temporary suspension of planned attacks on Iran, contingent on Tehran reopening the Strait of Hormuz and engaging in negotiations, arguing that sustained military pressure compelled Iran to come to the negotiating table.
