Even as Tamil Nadu grapples with intense summer heat, widespread rainfall in various districts has provided much-needed relief and cooler weather conditions. The India Meteorological Department has highlighted that atmospheric circulations in the southern region are influencing weather patterns, leading to more rain expected across the state in the coming days. Weather officials have noted the presence of atmospheric circulations over the Kanyakumari Sea and northeast Tamil Nadu, resulting in significant rainfall in several districts.
Moderate rain was observed in Hosur and surrounding areas of Krishnagiri district, while Sivaganga experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, causing a noticeable drop in temperature. In Dindigul district, Palani and Kodaikanal witnessed prolonged rainfall, leading to waterlogging on roads. Additionally, parts of Pudukkottai encountered thunderstorms and steady rainfall, offering respite from the scorching heat.
Several areas in Madurai district, including Pandian Nagar and Vadakarai, reported heavy rain and thunder. Nagapattinam district also received substantial rainfall in various places, resulting in water accumulation in low-lying areas. The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall for multiple districts, including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Madurai, with strong winds expected in other regions.
The forecast indicates continued heavy rainfall in hilly regions and districts like Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Chennai. Moreover, the southwest monsoon is anticipated to arrive in Kerala around May 26, bringing relief to the region from the prevailing weather conditions.
