In a tragic incident in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh, the bodies of a woman and her infant son were discovered in a well. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths. The bodies were found floating in a well located in municipal ward number 1 of the Tendukheda area, under the jurisdiction of the local civic body.
The incident is believed to have occurred late on Friday night but was only noticed on Saturday morning by a municipal employee who then informed the police. Upon receiving the information, the police, along with local residents, retrieved the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. The deceased have been identified as Jayanti Kewat (35) and her six-month-old son, Devansh Kewat.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Jayanti had previously lost two children and was reportedly facing health issues for some years. Jayanti, a resident of Jharoli village in Damoh, had returned to her parental home in Tendukheda to attend her brother’s after-death ritual. Damoh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDOP) Archana Ahir mentioned that Jayanti was last seen at her home on Friday evening and a search led to the discovery of the bodies in the well.
The SDOP stated that the bodies have been recovered, post-mortem examinations conducted, and further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
