A 30-year-old woman, Jyothi, and her newborn baby were discovered deceased in a lodge room in Thrissur, Kerala. The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. While initial assessments suggest complications from childbirth as a possible cause of death, many aspects of the incident remain unclear.
An autorickshaw driver, known to the woman, has been detained for questioning in connection with the case. Jyothi had checked into Room No. 108 of a private lodge in Thrissur on June 27, accompanied by the autorickshaw driver. Lodge staff mentioned that they were unaware of her pregnancy when she rented the room.
Concern arose when Jyothi did not respond to calls, prompting the autorickshaw driver to visit the lodge. After receiving no answer at the door, the authorities were alerted. Upon entering the room, they found both the woman and the newborn deceased. Investigators suspect that the woman gave birth in the lodge room, with potential post-partum complications leading to her demise.
The police are delving into the relationship between Jyothi and the autorickshaw driver, as well as the circumstances that led her to stay alone in the lodge during the final stages of her pregnancy. The room has been secured for forensic examination, and autopsies are being conducted on the bodies. Further actions will be determined based on the post-mortem report and forensic evidence, as the investigation continues.
