In Ujjain, a woman and her second husband faced public humiliation in Harniyakheda village, sparking outrage. The woman, who had left her first husband three years ago and remarried, returned to settle a land dispute, leading to a violent reaction from her former in-laws and villagers. The mob tore her clothes, cut her hair, and paraded her wearing a garland of shoes while also assaulting her husband.
Authorities have taken action by registering a case against 11 individuals, including three women, with six arrests made so far. The remaining accused are being pursued. The incident occurred about 20 kilometers from the police station, with the police arresting several individuals involved in the attack. Security has been increased in the village to prevent further unrest.
The woman’s return to the village with her second husband, where they were subjected to humiliation, was orchestrated by her former father-in-law and villagers. Despite the distressing incident, some villagers chose to record videos rather than intervene. Police have taken statements from the victims and are proceeding with strict actions against the perpetrators.
