In a significant operation at the India–Nepal border in Raxaul, Bihar, security agencies apprehended a woman from Uzbekistan who was allegedly trying to enter Nepal using a forged Indian Aadhaar card. The arrest was made by personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) during routine border checks.
SSB personnel, while conducting routine inspections near the Raxaul Maitri Bridge on the evening of July 16, 2026, stopped a woman whose movements seemed suspicious. Identified as Bozorova Shakarjon, a citizen of Uzbekistan, she possessed a valid Uzbek passport but lacked a valid visa to stay in India.
The woman had been residing in Mumbai for almost a year with an Indian acquaintance. Investigators claim she assumed a different identity, obtained forged documents, and acquired an Indian Aadhaar card through fraudulent means. Allegedly attempting to leave India for Nepal, she was intercepted at the border.
After initial interrogation, the SSB handed her over to the Haraiya Police Station of the East Champaran district for further legal proceedings. The woman did not possess a valid visa for her stay in India, and a forged Indian Aadhaar card was found in her possession, confirmed Haraiya Station House Officer, Kishan Kumar Paswan.
A case is under investigation under the relevant provisions of the Passport Act, visa regulations, and other laws governing foreign nationals in India. Authorities are probing into the individuals involved in helping her obtain the forged Aadhaar card, her illegal stay in India, and the purpose of her intended travel to Nepal, along with examining her contacts and activities in India.
