A woman and her two children tragically lost their lives in a fire that erupted at their residence in South Delhi’s Lodhi Road area. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, with the Delhi Fire Service receiving a distress call around 10:21 a.m. from B-Block, opposite Chawla Sweets, B.K. Dutt Colony in the Lodhi Road Police Station vicinity.

Upon receiving the alert, the Delhi Fire Services promptly dispatched one water tender (WT), one water bowser (WB), and one Big Fire Tender (BFT) to the location. Station Officer Manoj reported to the Control Room at approximately 10:50 a.m. that two children and a woman were discovered deceased on the building’s third floor.

At 10:55 a.m., the Station Officer requested the presence of a senior officer at the fire scene. Subsequently, Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) Rajesh Shukla was deployed to the site. Rescue and relief efforts commenced as the fire had already engulfed the entire house, causing panic in the vicinity due to thick smoke emanating from the structure.

Firefighters managed to gain entry into the house after breaking through a locked door. Tragically, inside the premises, the woman and her two children were found charred, having succumbed to the fire. The blaze was eventually brought under control, with Station Officer Manoj issuing a ‘STOP’ message at 11:10 a.m., although cooling operations are still ongoing at the location.

In a previous distressing incident in June, a massive fire at a B&B establishment in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area resulted in the loss of over 22 lives and numerous injuries. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had extended financial aid, offering Rs 10 lakh ex gratia to the family of each victim affected by the tragedy.
