The Wrestling Federation of India wrapped up the women’s wrestling contests at the Senior Open Ranking Tournament 2026 in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. Held at Nandininagar Mahavidyalaya, the event finalized domestic standings across 10 weight categories, providing a crucial competitive platform for athletes looking to solidify their positions in the national circuit. Emerging wrestlers like Ankush, Nishu, Nisha, Reena, Sito, Vaishnavi Dilip Patil, Anjali, Anshu Rajkumar, Bipasha, and Itisha Choudhary secured gold medals in their respective weight classes.
WFI president Sanjay Singh commended the high level of competition at the tournament and emphasized its role in expanding the talent pool in Indian wrestling. Singh congratulated all the medalists and participants in the Women’s Wrestling category, highlighting the event’s significance for wrestlers who missed out on the Senior Nationals. Vaishnavi Dilip Patil triumphed in the 62kg category, with Anshu Rajkumar claiming the top spot in the 68kg division. Bipasha secured gold in the 72kg category, while Itisha Choudhary emerged victorious in the 76kg weight class. Silver medals were earned by Rachana, Himanshi, Naina, Kajal Choudhary, Simran, Anjali, Dishun, Bhateri, Riya Kaushik, and Pooja across various weight categories. Bronze medals were shared among several athletes in each weight class, underscoring the depth of talent showcased at the tournament.
