India’s left-handed opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, will be reuniting with the Mumbai team for their upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Goa on December 31. Jaiswal, who missed the initial matches due to health issues, is expected to play in the upcoming fixture. Mumbai Cricket Association Secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar confirmed that Jaiswal will join the team on either December 29 evening or December 30 morning.
Earlier this month, Jaiswal faced health concerns and was hospitalized after Mumbai’s match against Rajasthan, where he was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis. With Rohit Sharma leading the batting in the first two games, Jaiswal is now set to replace him in the upcoming match against Goa at the Anantam Ground on New Year’s Eve.
Having showcased an impressive performance in the recent series against South Africa, where he scored a century, Jaiswal is anticipated to participate in more matches for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, his availability for future games may be influenced by India’s squad selection for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, commencing on January 11 in Vadodara.
Mumbai, under the captaincy of Shardul Thakur, has had a successful start to their Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign for the 2025/26 season. They secured victories against Sikkim and Uttarakhand in their initial matches and are scheduled to compete against Chhattisgarh in the next round of the competition at the Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground on Monday.
