Year-long activities are scheduled to occur at Somnath Temple in Gujarat to commemorate the Somnath Swabhiman Parv. Starting from January 8 to 11, various spiritual and social events will be held within the temple premises. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to visit the temple on January 11 to participate in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv programs.
The Somnath Swabhiman Parv is being organized to honor the 1,000 years since the first major attack on the Somnath Temple in 1026. This event celebrates the temple’s resilience and India’s cultural strength, as it was reconstructed after facing destruction by invaders multiple times. Prime Minister Modi initiated this observance to symbolize faith, destruction, and rebuilding, showcasing the temple’s continuous restoration over centuries.
The central theme of the event is ‘Unbroken Faith,’ highlighting the temple’s importance as a symbol of India’s enduring culture and spirit despite facing numerous assaults. In a blog post, PM Modi described the Somnath Temple as a timeless representation of the Indian ethos, emphasizing that while hatred and fanaticism may cause temporary destruction, faith and belief in goodness have the power to create eternally.
