Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that a significant phase of development is commencing in the state as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch the Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat train. The inauguration will take place at Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station, aiming to enhance regional connectivity and urban mobility in the National Capital Region (NCR).
CM Yogi described this event as a milestone for integrated urban and regional transportation, marking a new era in the progress of ‘Naya Uttar Pradesh (New Uttar Pradesh)’. Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives will include the unveiling of the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat train, along with various development projects valued at around Rs 12,930 crore in Meerut.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the 82 km long Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the nation and inaugurate additional sections of the RRTS, covering stretches in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. This move is expected to revolutionize urban and regional transportation, setting a precedent for efficient connectivity and mobility.
Designed for speeds up to 180 kmph, the Namo Bharat system is anticipated to significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and key urban centers like Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut. The integration of regional rapid transit and urban Metro services on shared infrastructure is a pioneering step towards enhancing public transportation efficiency.
The projects are aimed at alleviating traffic congestion, curbing vehicular emissions, and providing swift, sustainable mobility across the region. These initiatives align with the government’s broader vision to modernize public transport and improve the quality of life through eco-friendly infrastructure.
