Twenty-year-old Ritu Mondal, hailing from a small village in West Bengal, recently clinched two gold medals at the World Yogasana Championships in Ahmedabad. Her remarkable achievement not only brought pride to the nation but also propelled her closer to her ultimate dream of representing India on global sporting platforms, aiming for an Olympic medal.

Ritu’s success is a testament to her unwavering dedication, hard work, and the unwavering support of her family. Despite facing financial challenges, her parents and elder brother have been her pillars of strength, witnessing her triumph with tears of joy as she draped herself in the Indian flag after her victories.

Having overcome numerous obstacles, Ritu attributes her accomplishments to years of rigorous training and perseverance. Her elder brother, Gautam, a former Yogasana athlete, plays a pivotal role in her journey, offering guidance and motivation as she strives to fulfill their shared aspirations of sporting excellence.

Ritu’s brother’s unyielding belief in her potential and his relentless push for improvement serve as constant sources of inspiration. His unflagging dedication to seeing her excel in Yogasana, fueled by his own unfulfilled athletic ambitions, underscores the profound bond and mutual ambition driving Ritu’s pursuit of sporting greatness.

Ritu’s stellar performance at national events paved the way for her international success, culminating in her historic double gold win at the World Yogasana Championships. Her exceptional display of balance, flexibility, strength, and precision not only secured her victory but also solidified India’s prominence in the global Yogasana arena.

Despite her achievements, Ritu remains resolute in her quest for greater milestones, aspiring to represent India at prestigious international competitions and harboring a fervent ambition of seeing Yogasana included in major multi-sport events like the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and ultimately, the Olympics.

Ritu acknowledges the crucial role played by Galgotias University in supporting her athletic pursuits, providing her with a monthly scholarship that eases financial burdens and allows her to focus on training. Grateful for her family’s unwavering backing, she attributes her success to their sacrifices and unwavering belief in her abilities.
