A complaint has been filed against YouTuber Sayak Chakraborty for allegedly inciting a riot by a man named Joyraj Bhattacharjee at Park Street Police Station. Chakraborty had accused a restaurant in Kolkata’s Park Street area of serving him beef instead of goat meat. Kolkata Police arrested an employee of the restaurant based on Chakraborty’s complaint.
The arrested employee, Sheikh Nasiruddin, faced charges under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for hurting religious sentiments. Chakraborty had visited the restaurant with friends and claimed they were served beef instead of mutton steak. He posted a video of the incident on social media, which garnered attention.
While the incident sparked controversy, one of Chakraborty’s friends clarified on social media that they did not intend to provoke any religious sentiments. The video shared by Chakraborty showed the altercation with the restaurant staff over the alleged mix-up in the food served.
