Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress Party has urged for a CBI investigation into the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna at Krishna Lanka Police Station. He demanded strict action against all responsible parties, alleging involvement of senior police officials besides the suspended Circle Inspector. YS Jagan visited Sai Krishna’s family to offer condolences and criticized the deteriorating law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh.
The incident unfolded when Sai Krishna was taken into police custody on May 9, leading to his mother’s desperate attempts to seek information at the police station. Despite her efforts, she faced ridicule from the police officers who allegedly showed insensitivity. YS Jagan highlighted the unjust portrayal of Sai Krishna posthumously as a criminal, emphasizing his legitimate gig work for a living and questioning the need for such misrepresentation.
YS Jagan emphasized the family’s legal pursuit by filing a Habeas Corpus petition suspecting foul play, which eventually led to the suspension of the Krishna Lanka CI. However, he stressed that mere suspension was inadequate and called for murder charges against all involved. YS Jagan underscored the necessity of a CBI inquiry for an impartial investigation to uncover the truth, ensure accountability, and deliver justice to the affected families.
In another tragic incident, YS Jagan mentioned the suicide of Kranthi Kumar in May, allegedly due to harassment by the same police officer. He expressed concern over the consecutive deaths of young men within a month under the same police station’s jurisdiction, raising serious questions about the circumstances surrounding these events.
