Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress Party has expressed strong support for proposed amendments to the Women’s Reservation Act, 2023. He welcomed the move to ensure 33% reservation for women in the Assembly and Lok Sabha, emphasizing the importance of enhancing women’s political representation.
YS Jagan reaffirmed his party’s commitment to women’s empowerment, highlighting their efforts to promote women’s participation in governance through various reservation measures. He stressed the significance of empowering women to take on leadership roles across all levels of democracy.
Addressing YSRCP leaders, Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly taking credit for the ArcelorMittal steel plant project. He claimed that groundwork for the plant was initiated during his tenure and accused the current government of misleading propaganda.
YS Jagan questioned the lack of focus on the Bulk Drug Park project in Nakkapalli and accused the coalition government of failing to fulfill election promises and scrapping welfare schemes. He raised concerns about the state’s increasing debt, alleged corruption in various sectors, and declining conditions in education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Highlighting future opportunities for party workers, YS Jagan mentioned the potential increase in Assembly and Parliament seats creating more leadership roles, particularly for SCs, STs, and women. He expressed confidence in public dissatisfaction leading to the defeat of the current government in the upcoming elections.
