A day after Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy claimed that his pressure led to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu halting the Rayalaseema lift irrigation project, the YSR Congress Party accused Naidu of betraying Rayalaseema for personal gain. YSRCP leaders condemned Naidu for allegedly colluding with Revanth Reddy to stall the project, vital for Rayalaseema’s water needs.
Reacting to Revanth Reddy’s statements in the Telangana Assembly, YSRCP leaders criticized Naidu for his alleged betrayal of Rayalaseema. They highlighted an unholy nexus between Naidu and Revanth Reddy that resulted in stopping the crucial project. The YSRCP leaders demanded an explanation from Naidu on why he compromised Rayalaseema’s future and failed to defend the region’s rights.
Terming the project’s stoppage a “death warrant” for Rayalaseema, YSRCP leaders questioned Naidu’s priorities and silence on upstream projects impacting the region. They warned that Rayalaseema could face severe distress due to inaction and alleged political compromises. The YSRCP leaders emphasized the importance of reviving the Lift Irrigation Project to prevent further harm to Rayalaseema’s future.
