YSR Congress Party has called for an immediate apology from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for allegedly using derogatory remarks towards the Kapu community. Leaders from YSRCP, who are Kapu community members, criticized Pawan Kalyan for his offensive comments during a media address in Kakinada. They accused him of being a pawn in Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s diversion tactics to deflect attention from pressing state issues.
Former ministers, ex-MP, and YSRCP Assembly coordinators highlighted that the coalition government failed to address concerns such as custodial deaths, law enforcement failures, and allegations of irregularities. They claimed that Pawan Kalyan was being utilized by Chandrababu Naidu to shift focus through personal attacks on Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other YSRCP leaders. The YSRCP leaders emphasized that disrespecting figures like Botsa Satyanarayana and Vanga Geetha equated to insulting the entire Kapu community.
Questioning the biased portrayal of Kapu members in different political parties, the YSRCP leaders alleged that Chandrababu Naidu historically stigmatized Kapu leaders as anti-social elements. They criticized Pawan Kalyan’s silence on unmet promises to the Kapu community, including reservations and financial support. The leaders affirmed their commitment to advocating for justice for Kapus and marginalized groups in Andhra Pradesh, vowing to stand against personal attacks on Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In response, Jana Sena Party retaliated against YSRCP’s criticism of Pawan Kalyan. Party MLA P. Ramesh Babu cautioned YSRCP leaders that invoking the Kapu community for political gain could backfire. He reminded them of the electorate’s past response and warned of potential consequences if they persisted in attacking Pawan Kalyan. The political tension between the parties continues amid the Kapu community’s concerns.
