YSR Congress Party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy emphasized the need for Leader of Opposition status in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly to effectively scrutinize the government’s actions. He questioned the Speaker on the delay in granting opposition party status to YSRCP, the sole opposition party in the Assembly. Reddy highlighted that this recognition would enable him to expose any wrongful activities of the ruling coalition.
Former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed concerns during a press conference regarding the lack of opposition in the Assembly apart from YSRCP. He criticized the Speaker for not designating the party as an opposition entity. The YSRCP leader’s statements followed the Speaker’s proposal of “no work, no pay” for absent MLAs and the suggestion of granting voters the right to recall non-performing representatives.
Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly taking credit for the comprehensive land resurvey initiated during the YSRCP government’s tenure. He accused Naidu of appropriating the achievements of the previous administration without contributing significantly to the land reform initiatives. Reddy highlighted discrepancies in the new land documents issued by the current government and raised concerns about corruption, high contractor fees, and questionable project allocations in Amaravati.
