Veteran actress Zeenat Aman shared on “The Kapil Sharma Show” how she landed the role of Rupa in the 1978 film “Satyam Shivam Sundaram.” During the show, she recounted working on another movie with director Raj Kapoor, who was simultaneously planning “Satyam Shivam Sundaram.” Inspired by his discussions about the character Rupa, Zeenat decided to audition for the role.
Zeenat, aspiring to be directed by Raj Kapoor, went to RK Studio dressed as she envisioned the character. Impressed by her portrayal, Raj Kapoor declared her as his Rupa. He even filmed a sequence with Zeenat, replacing the one shot with Nargis Dutt, which convinced distributors to buy the movie. “Satyam Shivam Sundaram,” directed by Raj Kapoor and written by Jainendra Jain, featured Shashi Kapoor alongside Zeenat Aman in a captivating narrative.
Zeenat Aman portrayed Roopa, a woman with a disfigured face, who captures the heart of Rajeev, played by Shashi Kapoor, without revealing her scar until after their marriage.
