Garima Garg, the wife of the late Zubeen Garg, revealed the establishment of a trust dedicated to upholding and advancing the cultural icon’s artistic and social heritage. Alongside family members and associates, she expressed optimism for justice in the ongoing murder case. The trust aims to perpetuate Zubeen Garg’s values and contributions to Assam through collaborative endeavors.
After extensive consultations, the family, in conjunction with friends and well-wishers, finalized the formation of the Zubeen Garg Trust. The trust will utilize the family’s property in Kharghuli as a hub for social, cultural, and creative pursuits dear to the late icon. Garima Garg acknowledged the support of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and urged swift progress in the investigation for timely justice.
Operational under three distinct wings, the trust will encompass the Kalaguru Foundation for socio-cultural ventures and the Abhinaya Performing Arts institution to foster theatrical and performance arts, especially among youth. Additionally, a research division will delve into Zubeen Garg’s life, works, and impact on Assam’s cultural and social milieu, including safeguarding his intellectual property.
The family emphasized Zubeen Garg’s enduring legacy in Assam and stressed the importance of preserving not only his memory but also his principles and aspirations for future generations. The trust’s scope extends to societal, cultural, environmental conservation, and youth welfare initiatives, garnering support from various quarters, including Zubeen Garg’s acquaintances, cultural figures, and the Zubeen Fan Club.
