Every year on 14th September, Hindi Diwas is observed. This tradition started after the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi in Devanagari script as an official language on 14th September 1949.

  • In 1918, Mahatma Gandhi and Hindi scholars promoted the use of Hindi for national unity.
  • The Hindi Sahitya Sammelan played a key role in spreading Hindi across India.
  • Finally, on 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly declared Hindi (written in Devanagari) as the official language of India under Article 343 of the Constitution.
