A 17-year-old student was critically injured in a shooting at a restaurant in southeast Delhi’s Amar Colony area. The incident occurred when he objected to a group of young men brushing past his chair. One of the three accused has been apprehended following the incident.
The shooting incident has led to a significant investigation in the locality. Multiple police teams are reviewing CCTV footage and tracking the movements of the individuals involved in the shooting. Sources have revealed that the detained accused is a juvenile and is not believed to be the main shooter in the case.
Police received a PCR call about the firing incident at Amar Colony Police Station around 7:54 p.m. on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Sahil, was at the restaurant with friends when a group of boys passed by their table. An altercation ensued when one of the boys touched Sahil’s chair, leading to the shooting.
After a brief confrontation, the group initially left the restaurant but returned shortly afterward. Subsequently, one of the youths allegedly opened fire at Sahil before fleeing the scene with the others. Sahil was the sole individual injured in the shooting.
Upon notification of the incident, local police teams, along with senior officers, rushed to the location. However, by the time they arrived, the injured student had already been taken to the hospital by locals and friends. Sahil was found unconscious and on ventilator support at the hospital.
Initially admitted to Moolchand Hospital, Sahil was later transferred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for advanced medical care. Doctors have reported that he remains in critical condition and is currently on ventilator support, although his status is stable. Raids are ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the shooting, with the investigation also involving the analysis of CCTV footage from nearby areas.
