A 21-year-old batter named Danish Malewar made his debut for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Malewar, who was expected to play in the previous match, came in as an opener but struggled and got out after scoring just two runs in four balls. Despite this, he remains hopeful for future opportunities to showcase his talent.
Born on October 8, 2003, Malewar hails from Nagpur and is a right-handed top-order batter and a right-arm leg-break bowler. Mumbai Indians acquired him for INR 30 lakh due to his red-ball cricket consistency and aggressive approach in shorter formats. Malewar’s cricket journey began at the City Gymkhana Academy under the guidance of coaches Swaroopraj Shrivastava and Nitin Gawande, where his dedication and skills were quickly recognized.
Malewar’s commitment to the sport was evident from a young age. He made a mark in Vidarbha’s Under-14 team at just 12 years old and later played a crucial role in their title-winning Ranji Trophy season, scoring 783 runs in nine matches. Known for his calm demeanor and ability to build long innings, Malewar focuses on mastering his batting skills by drawing inspiration from cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and KL Rahul.
