A 22-year-old named Rajesh tragically died in a lift accident at a hotel in Bengaluru’s Jayanagar area. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. within the Jayanagar police station’s jurisdiction. Rajesh sustained fatal head injuries when his head got trapped between floors in an old service elevator without safety doors.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the lift, used by hotel staff for transporting materials, lacked safety features. Rajesh’s head reportedly struck a concrete beam as the lift moved, causing severe injuries. Despite immediate police response, Rajesh died on the spot due to the impact.
Authorities are investigating the accident, with no signs of foul play detected so far. Rajesh’s purpose for being at the hotel remains unclear, prompting contact with his family in Dharwad for more information. The incident has raised concerns about outdated lifts and safety measures in commercial establishments in the city.
In a separate incident earlier in July, a 15-year-old boy died in a lift accident at a hardware store in Bengaluru. Additionally, in May, a 28-year-old employee lost his life due to an elevator malfunction in Mangaluru. These incidents highlight the importance of safety protocols in such settings.
