As many as 26 passengers were injured when seven coaches of the Karachi-bound Tezgam train derailed near Adam Wahan Railway Station in Pakistan’s Punjab province. The incident occurred on the Bahawalpur-Lodhran section, with five bogies overturning during the journey from Lahore to Karachi on Tuesday night. Lodhran officials and rescue teams quickly responded to the scene to conduct rescue operations.

Rescue efforts focused on freeing passengers trapped in the overturned coaches. Pakistan Railway’s spokesperson confirmed that there were no fatalities, with injured individuals receiving medical assistance from rescuers. Of the 26 injured passengers, 17 received first aid on-site, while the remaining nine, including a woman in serious condition, were taken to District Headquarters Hospital in Lodhran.

Nine passengers were admitted to the hospital for further treatment, while the others were treated at the accident site, according to Lodhran ADC Liaquat Gilani. The hospital has allocated 35 beds for the victims of the train accident. The cause of the derailment remains unknown, pending an investigation ordered by railway authorities to determine the exact circumstances.

Eyewitnesses suggested that the train split into two parts due to coupler issues, leading to the derailment of five out of seven coaches attached to the engine. Railway traffic on the affected track was suspended, and a relief train was dispatched from Samasatta railway junction to assist with the situation.
