Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony voiced worry about the declining interest of young individuals in politics and the trend of educated youth leaving Kerala. He emphasized the need for immediate reflection on this issue. Antony stressed the importance of understanding why educated youth are migrating out of the state and implementing corrective actions to retain talent when the United Democratic Front regains power.
Antony praised two senior leaders, K.A. Chandran and V.C. Kabeer, as valuable assets to the Congress in Kerala. He highlighted Chandran’s Gandhian principles and ethical public life as exemplary for the younger generation. Chandran, known for his simplicity and integrity, refrained from personal gains in public service, setting a high standard for others to follow.
At an event in Thiruvananthapuram, Antony presented the 11th Gandhi Darshan Award to Chandran, acknowledging his significant contributions. The function, led by Kabeer Master, State President of the Gandhi Darshan Samithi, also marked the inauguration of the Secular Protection Convention. State Congress President Sunny Joseph and former state chief Ramesh Chennithala were among the prominent figures present at the event.
Chennithala raised concerns about attempts to diminish Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and Gandhian values, attributing this to the Sangh Parivar’s agenda. He warned against the growing communal polarization in the country resulting from these actions. Chennithala honored Chandran with a shawl and a memento, emphasizing the importance of upholding Gandhi’s ideals in today’s society.
