Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman has unveiled the soundtrack for the highly praised Arabic psychological fantasy-thriller “Baab,” directed by Nayla Al Khaja. This marks Rahman’s debut collaboration on an Arabic film. The soundtrack, comprising 10 captivating compositions, is now available on various streaming platforms under Rahman’s music label KM Musiq and globally distributed by Divo. Rahman expressed his attraction to “Baab” due to its emotional depth and the distinctive world crafted by Nayla.
The film features a talented cast including Shaimaa El Fadul, Huda Alghanem, Meera Almidfa, Mansoor Alnoamani, Sabiha Majgaonkar, and Elham Al Marzooqi. “Baab” follows the story of Wahida, who uncovers hidden cassette tapes behind a green door, revealing the truth about her twin sister’s demise. The technical team includes Rogier Stoffers overseeing the camera work and Sebastian Funke as the editor. The “Baab” Original Motion Picture soundtrack is now streaming on major platforms.
Throughout his esteemed career spanning nearly three decades, A.R. Rahman has composed music for various acclaimed films like “Slumdog Millionaire,” “127 Hours,” “Couples Retreat,” “Warriors of Heaven and Earth,” and “Pelé: Birth of a Legend.” Having left his musical footprint across Hollywood, Asia, and Europe, Rahman has now ventured into Arabic cinema with this significant project.
