Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has recommended that Rohit Sharma should play the entire duration of T20 matches instead of being used as an Impact Player by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Chopra emphasized that it is illogical for a fully fit player like Rohit to only feature as a batter when he can contribute throughout the match.
Chopra highlighted the importance of opening batters being actively involved in the game from the beginning and preparing before going out to bat. He praised Rohit Sharma’s fitness and strength, suggesting that he should be on the field for the full 40 overs to maximize his impact for the Mumbai Indians.
Former spinner Harbhajan Singh echoed similar sentiments, expressing that Rohit should not be limited to a substitute role due to his leadership qualities and experience on the field. Singh emphasized Rohit’s ability to provide support and guidance in crucial moments, especially for players like Hardik Pandya.
Rohit Sharma, a five-time IPL-winning captain, faced criticism for being utilized as an impact player in the previous IPL season where he had a disappointing performance with just 240 runs. Looking ahead, Rohit aims to improve his contributions with the bat in the upcoming season.
